The full project

You are the project manager for a $13,000,000 construction project to build the first buildings on a new satellite college campus.

The construction contract calls for an eight-month construction time with a $1,000/day late penalty. The project is to build:

  • a 2-lane entrance of.25 miles
  • parking for 50 vehicles
  • a septic system to handle 250,000 gallons per week
  • a classroom building on a 60’ x 60’ single solid concrete slab with no cracks
  • 6 classrooms configured with sound reducing sliding dividers that can allow for 2 large presentation rooms, each classroom is to be equipped with a ceiling mounted projector, an electronic screen at the ceiling (5’ x 8’) a fully electronic white board, 20 chairs and tables to accommodate the chairs, and a teaching podium with computer and electronic connection to enable displaying content on the screen, and a document camera also linked to the display system.

Develop a complete production plan including a detailed work progress schedule, materials list, subcontractors needed and for what work describing your overall management approach, risk management, cost management, scheduling, resource management, control and closeout. It all begins with an initial consultation. We will meet with you to discuss possibilities, answer questions and bring creative insights. Once we understand your vision, we’ll develop a road map and make recommendations as to the best route to achieve the end result. The quality that our designs deliver will add value and distinction to your home for years to come. Communication is essential to any successful project and most issues occur in the construction process or lack thereof. We try to avoid this by having an open line of communication between you and our staff.

ground preparation

Site preparation is always the first phase of any major construction or forestry project. This process involves clearing the land of trees and debris, leveling the ground for building, and moving materials to and from the site. The process of site preparation is unique to each project, and as such, the necessary steps and equipment will vary. However, most of these projects make use of a few key pieces of equipment common to the worksite; read on for more details about these important workhorses, including excavators and skid steers.
